History of Midwest Traction
We're more than tires, but that was how we started 25 years ago. We were a locally owned, national brand automotive tire retailer for years. Selling car and truck tires to local consumers was rewarding, but we soon realized we were just another tire shop on the corner.
Repeatedly, customers walked through our door asking for something special: a lawnmower tire, a golf cart tire, a skid steer tire, an ATV Tire, or tire chains, to name a few. Too often, we'd have to turn them away.
In response, our founder's vision shifted; we needed to be the Specialty Tire Experts! And so the seed was planted for Midwest Traction. A number of storefronts later (both brick-and-mortar and online), and we are so proud of this store. Thousands of hours of specialty tire passion have been poured into the pages you're about to view.
Midwest Traction Today
Traction means many things to many people. Our “elevator speech” goes something like this: “We're in the tire business; everything but car and truck tires! Specialty tires, Lawn and Garden, ATV, UTV, Motorcycle, Construction, Ag, you name it! Heck, we've sold tires that go on bomb disposal robots!”
As you'll see, we are more than just tires. We acquired a motorcycle parts company a few years back, and we proudly offer some of the best brands in the industry to do-it-yourselfers who found us because of our vast tire selection.
You'll also find tire products like tire chains. We realized that there was a need that wasn't being fulfilled, so we are committed to being an authority for tire chains. The average consumer may never have a need for chains, but if you live in the country, in the mountains or your job depends on traction, we're the folks to see. We guarantee you'll have the chains you need at your doorstep within a few days. Inventory is broad and deep; luckily, chains don't spoil!

Warehouse Team
Did someone say "Prompt Shipping?" We take great pride in prompt and accurate shipping. If your order is placed by 3 pm Central Standard Time, it will ship the same day. Located in the heartland, our Iowa warehouse is just a few short days from every address in the lower 48!
