Electric ATVs to Open New Tire Markets

Just as large auto manufacturers continue to roll out hybrid and environmentally-friendly vehicles, the logic here is that certain segments of the population would be more inclined to purchase an electric ATV rather than one that runs on gasoline. Add Polaris to this list.

The company, in an effort to become the most successful ATV seller in Australia, is rolling out a line of electric ATVs, including its Ranger EV electric model. In fact, electric ATVs are the cornerstone of Polaris efforts to expand in Australia.

Currently, Polaris claims 21 percent of the Australian market share, up from 10 percent in 2004.

As you can imagine, manufacturers of ATV tires are also cheering on these developments; industry insiders are watching closely to see if the heavy hitters like Carlisle, Dunlop, and Kenda can capitalize on manufacturers' inroads into new markets.
